How long still?

An oratorio for the preservation of Creation

Music composed by Dimitri Arnauts

About the project

What have we done with what was entrusted, given to us?

Greed and pride are suffocating - or destroying - vast parts of the once so marvelous, generous and lush planet Earth.

This new oratorio is a musical contribution to worldwide efforts to preserve the splendor of God's work, and to support the rise of a new consciousness about our responsibility towards nature.

The work will require a large orchestra, a mixed choir and 4 vocal soloists. It would be ideally staged in the framework of a benefit concert to support an ecological cause.

In the broadest sense, it is equivalent to the natural, physical, or material world or universe. "Nature" refers to the phenomena of the physical world, and also to life in general. It ranges in scale from the subatomic to the cosmic.

The word nature is derived from the Latin word natura, or "essential qualities, innate disposition", and in ancient times, literally meant "birth"

Natura was a Latin translation of the Greek word physis (φύσις), which originally related to the intrinsic characteristics that plants, animals, and other features of the world develop of their own accord
